A file manager is something computer users can't live without, no matter the purpose of the computer usage. The Windows operating system features a file manager but this lacks a lot of options and it also takes a lot of time to work with files and folders. Its interface is too simple and most of the operations needed by users will certainly take too much time to complete. Fortunately, there is a solution for this and that's the program Directory Opus. It's a file manager that manages to fill the gaps left behind by Windows Explorer and by most other file managers on the market as well. The program was first launched in 1989 and since then it has been continuously improved.

The software is easy to install and quick at it, too. It supports every version of Microsoft Windows and doesn't take up too much system resources or hard disk space.

The interface of Directory Opus resembles Windows Explorer, but has many more features. First of all, there isn't just a panel for viewing files and folder, there are two of them, so it's easy to copy or move files and folders between one another. The user doesn't have to use the old context menu to copy and paste files and folders, he can just drag and drop items from a panel to the other.

Files that are too large to fit onto a CD or memory stick, for example, can be easily split and then joined with the help of this software. Also, images can be converted from one format to another or can be even uploaded to an image sharing website. Compared to Windows Explorer, Directory Opus allows setting various themes for the main interface. In case the user wants to re-install the operating system and also to have Directory Opus the same way it was in the old operating system, its preferences, settings and windows positions can be easily backed up to a location on the hard disk or USB memory stick.

Pros

It simplifies operations with files and folders and it also allows splitting and joining large files for easy sharing them.

Cons

It's not as complex as advanced user may want. Directory Opus is a great program that has everything you would want from a file manager.
